Why Contractors Still Trust Slope Meter Inc. After 60+ Years

When it comes to grading, precision matters. Whether you're building roads, shaping ditches, cutting slopes, or finishing crowns, accuracy can make the difference between a smooth finish and costly rework. That’s why contractors across the industry have trusted Slope Meter Inc. instruments for over 60 years.

At Service Supply America, we proudly offer dependable slope meters built for operators who need fast, accurate readings in the toughest working conditions. We offer three different versions to fit a variety of grading applications:

Built for Accuracy in the Field
Slope-Meters are designed to give operators instant visual readings while working. Mounted directly on the dash in the operator’s line of sight, they allow for quick adjustments without slowing down productivity.

Key Features:

  • Accurate to 1 degree
  • Fast 1-second response time
  • Durable cast aluminum construction
  • Compact size: 3.5" x 8.5" x 1"
  • Fully hermetically sealed

Slope Meter No. 1

The Slope Meter No. 1 is used for all slope and crown construction applications and is widely trusted on:

  • Motor graders
  • Bulldozers
  • Similar grading equipment

It’s ideal for:

  • Road building
  • Ditch shaping
  • Crown work
  • General grading applications

The scale is simple and practical for operators in the field. For example, if the indicator ball is over the number “8”, it indicates an 8-to-1 slope. Small triangles between the numbers indicate degrees for reference purposes.

Range: "24 to 1" - "2 to 1" (slope).

The Slope Meter No. 1 helps operators construct true slopes without waves and allows grading work to continue just as accurately at night as during daylight hours.

Slope Meter No. 2

The Slope Meter No. 2 is designed to determine percent of grade and is calibrated to read from .00 to .12 (0–12%).
This model is especially useful for applications where exact grading specifications are required and is commonly used on:

  • Motor graders
  • Asphalt pavers
  • Wheel ditchers
  • Tunneling machines
  • Other precision grading equipment

Range: 0–12% (% of grade)

The No. 2 Slope Meter helps operators maintain accurate grade percentages while improving efficiency and speeding up production on the jobsite.

Steep Slope Meter

The Steep Slope Meter is calibrated in percentage of grade from 0–50% and is designed for applications where steeper slope readings are required.
This model is especially effective on:

  • Bulldozers
  • Similar heavy equipment operating on steep terrain

Range: 0–50% grade.

The Steep Slope Meter provides operators with accurate readings in demanding grading and earthmoving environments where maintaining safe and consistent slope angles is critical.

Why Operators Still Choose Mechanical Slope Meters

Even with modern technology available, many contractors continue to rely on mechanical slope meters because they are:

  • Reliable
  • Easy to read
  • Low maintenance
  • Durable
  • Cost-effective

There’s no complicated setup, no software, and no downtime waiting for calibration - just dependable performance day after day.
